“Piping hot tea, sweet treats and charming flowers make a quaint, yet genteel spread overlooking pristine landscapes.” How sweet is this bridal tea at Inverness Country Club for Alabama Weddings Magazine? We had the wonderful opportunity of working with two very talented designers, Anita Kanellis of AK Brides, and Ricky Whitley Bridal Event Florist on this whimsical shoot. We absolutely loved how every detail came together!

Happy New Year!!! We hope everyone’s 2013 is off to a great start! This past year has been a wonderful year! We have had the opportunity to work with the most amazing clients and vendors, and have even made some great new friends along the way:-) We want to say thank you to each and every one of you, we greatly appreciate you!

2013 is going to be a great year, and we can’t wait to share it with you all! For our first post of the year, we wanted to share the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA shoot from this past December!

As an official sponsor of the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA Pageants, we were asked to do a photo shoot for the December 2012 program. The directors wanted a bright color-block theme, and these photos are just that… fun and colorful! Katherine Webb and Peyton Brown were great to work with, and complete beauties! Take a peek at a few of our favorites from the shoot! Hair and Makeup by Melissa Moore Bogardus, Wardrobe provided by The Clothes Tree.

Anne – Marie and Ryan | Birmingham, AL Engagement Session

Anne-Marie and Ryan’s story can truly be called “love at first sight” considering the two first met in preschool. Weeks before his 5th birthday party, Ryan told his mom that he had to invite the girl he was going to marry to his birthday party and sure enough, it was Anne-Marie. She tried to get away; Her family moved from Dothan, AL to Birmingham and the two did not see each other again until high school.

A mutual friend posted a picture of her and Anne-Marie to Facebook. Ryan thought she looked familiar and sent Anne-Marie a message saying hey, I think we went to preschool together. After three months of messages and calls back and forth, Anne-Marie and Ryan decide to take a stab at a long distance relationship; and it worked!

Five years to the day after that first message was sent, Ryan proposed on the beach they both grew up going to. Looks like about 5 years of long phone calls, Skyping and driving across the state paid off!

We had such a great time with Anne-Marie and Ryan on their engagement session, and can’t wait for their summer wedding! We started off the day at Anne Marie’s family home and then ventured to the family farm to photograph this sweet couple. Check out a few of our favorites!

Alabama Weddings 2012 | The Story Behind the Cover

We were asked to do a last minute shoot for Alabama Weddings magazine and were given the task of doing it within 48 hours. The objective was to spotlight the make-up artists and their work. The rest was up to us!

We went to work like Seal Team Six for this “photographic mission” … we had an objective and we needed a plan!

Nicole wanted something light and airy. She knew of a blue door that had been weathered and turned into a table. We purchased it from her friend Rachael Eden who owns Roadside Relics. Rachael’s pieces are truly unique and creative, she also rents pieces for events!

We then called in the famous Carol Riley of Lillie’s Flowers to create the luscious wreath centerpiece.

We originally were only looking to create a background for the segment that’s in the magazine. However, once it was all together, we knew we had something that just had those common denominators of “covers.”

So … we decided to do what we do best… have fun and make something happen! We thought about composition – light source – ISO – lens type – focal length -color balance – in camera cropping – shutter speed – aperture and various angles. It all came together!

We photographed the door and flowers because we thought they were beautiful as a whole. It’s how we see things. We always work as a team to cover the moment and create a visual memory!

Whether it’s a piece for the magazine – an engagement shoot – a bridal shoot or a wedding. We always have fun and look at our surroundings in a perspective for you to enjoy!

We are thrilled our image was chosen for the cover, and we are looking forward to see what else 2012 has in store!
